Apple Cider Donuts

September 18, 2012

When apples appear, fall is here. From the farmer's market to your local grocer, you can't avoid eating at least one apple a day. This weekend, I was lucky enough to go apple picking on a gorgeous farm right near the beach in New England. Not only is this farm famous for their lush, expansive orchards, but they specialize in fresh apple cider donuts that visitors line up and down the street for.

Apparently not many orchards still stir up their own mixes, so this farm's recipe is one special secret. But don't worry, if you aren't anywhere near an apple orchard that makes their own donuts, Barbara Gallo from the Poughkeepsie Journal has her own sensational recipe we can try at home. And just think -- you can sample during the process!
