Is there anything Annie of Annie's Eats can't do? When she isn't working as a resident physician, the self-taught cook is whipping up banana pancakes, hand-detailed cookies and impeccably decorated cupcakes for her family and friends.
Annie started the blog in 2007, with only a point-and-shoot Sony and no formal culinary training. While she claims that her first pictures were "horrendous," you'd be hard-pressed to believe her: the site is filled with artful, well-lit and tantalizing food photos.
Some of her most beautiful shots and best-written recipes are for baked goods (check out these Pistachio Cupcakes), and typically she pays attention to all things seasonal (like late-summer Peach Crumb Bars). But not to be ignored are her savory dishes like gourmet turkey burgers and grilled pizza -- complete with homemade dough. And for the times when this wonder woman needs to show off her treats, she even offers a tutorial on homemade cupcake stands (see below).
With a user-friendly search menu and plenty of cooking, gift and entertaining ideas, Annie's Eats makes DIY do-able.
