Homemade Nut Butters

Last month, the Food52 editors thought they tried 10 of the most unusual peanut butter food pairings. You've all continued to share truly unique combinations with us in the comments, and this week, Food52er diane shared what might be the strangest combination we've heard yet: peanut butter and pepperoni. She suggests making mini peanut butter sandwiches—with the pepperoni serving as the bread. We can't say we rushed to the kitchen to test this one out yet...

White button mushrooms, snap the stems out. Fill the cavity with peanut butter, wrap with bacon and grill on the braai (BBQ)

Peanut butter, sliced dill pickles, mustard and crispy lettuce (romaine or iceberg) sandwich. A truly great one from my childhood!

Peanut butter and kidney beans. We either mash the kidney beans into peanut butter and use as a spread (the kids *loved* it when they were little), or else spread peanut butter onto warm toast and top it all with kidney beans in a little of their liquid and eat with a knife and fork. Makes a great breakfast!

Silken tofu, peanut butter, a touch of lemon JC, a touch of white wine vinegar a pinch of red pepper flakes well mixed for a sandwich.

Peanut butter + bologna roll ups are a family favorite. Now as a grown up I am squicked out by bologna, so I substitute veggie bologna and bring them to work as snacks
