I love this topic!

We're nearing Memorial Day and I think Food52 has the right idea...

-Anticipating grilling season

-Giving spring produce the spotlight it deserves (https://food52.com/recipes/11712-spring-vegetable-jumble-with-lemon-tarragon-butter)

-Celebrating the little things (05-14-15 was National Buttermilk Biscuit Day - I cheated a little and went with yogurt: https://food52.com/blog/10148-how-to-make-yogurt-biscuits-without-a-recipe)

-Good dirt and fresh flowers

-Longer hours of daylight, and an early out from work on a Friday afternoon to enjoy it!

Oh dear. This line of thought could bump Haiku.

Ramps tramp. Fertilizer stinks.
Garden is a mess.
I want a Pimm’s drink.

My ink-stained soft red leather Circa gratitude journal (oh what a journey, these 14 years)

Onetribegourmet’s Sri Lankan Masur Dal – best ever blueprint for dal (I adapt it like crazy, make it all the time, had it for lunch) https://food52.com/recipes/8524-sri-lankan-masur-dal-with-tamarind-curry-leaves-coconut-milk

Negative results on the genetic breast cancer test (2 sisters, alas)

Researching and sending treats/comfort food to baby sister embarking on months of chemo

Pierino’s Mysteries of Koreatown Flank Steak – already marinated, fresh from the freezer thanks to advance planning - on the menu and the grill tonight after a post-work hike in the redwoods nearby

The Dewey Decimal System (browsing made so fun)

Old CSpan book festival author lectures on YouTube while working out at the gym (today, Christopher Hitchens on Jefferson)

Spring carrots – so flavorful

Perfect basmati rice (rinse well, soak, cook, let sit without removing the cover; works every time)

Playoff basketball on the radio!

;o)

Antonia, I'm deeply glad you're healthy and sorry your family has had to cope with this disease. Your deep knowledge of healthy cooking must be a big plus for yourself and when you cook for family. Wishing you and your family every medical success!
