so sweet and so cold
and so messy, best eaten
just over the sink

Leslie

i almost forgive you for
staining my white shirt

Caroline's bit reminds me of William Carlos Williams' "This is Just to Say."

A classic! Who doesn't love that poem? My husband quoted it when we bought a big basket of plums, so for a joke I left him a note that read:
These are the plums
That are my danged breakfast
So eat them at your peril
You fool.

Naturally, I expected a heap of pits: they were so cold, so sweet :)

Plum tart you burn hot
The juices sweet, scalding her
My friend who bit you
