Spiced Sweet Potato Latkes with Yogurt  Rosti with Gravlax, Caperberries and Horseradish Cream

Any food52 member is welcome to help us test our Editors' Pick candidates, so go call dibs on the recipe you'd like to test in the comments section below! We'd love to see some new testers in the mix. Don't forget to email us your notes (about 100 words) to [email protected] by next Tuesday at 5pm.

We'll collect your comments, decide the official list of Editors' Picks and publish your evaluation in the headnote if the recipe is selected as an Editors' Pick (with credit, of course!). And even if the recipe you test isn't chosen as an Editors' Pick, please feel free to leave your testing notes in the recipe's comments section. Constructive criticism is always encouraged!

I'd love to make the Potato and Pork Confit Cakes then.

Butter and Blue Potato Pancakes, please. I do not think that they are taken?

fiveandspice December 3, 2010
Hi MCT! I had volunteered to test those - and will make them either way because I really need to learn how to make latkes - but if you'd like to test them as well and write the review, you certainly can. It looks like potato and pork confit cakes are also available, if you'd like to do those. I can't test those because I definitely won't have time to make pork confit and I also can't eat walnuts. Just let me know what you plan to do.

MyCommunalTable December 3, 2010
Gosh, I was having the same issues with pork confit cakes as you. We are a no nut household due to my sons allergies. Go for the butter and blue ones. Sorry that I did not see it. You are going to love learning how to make a latke. They are just heaven to me. I do not know how they could even judge this catagory. Let's just say I have not met a potato pancake that I didn't like. Look forward to reading your review.

Thanks so much! I am quite psyched to be giving these ago. And I totally agree about how difficult it would be to judge. Of course there's always an embarrassment of incredibly delicious looking recipes every time, it's got to be hard to judge every week!

If the Potato Pancakes are still available I'll take them. I'll be frying up a batch tonight!

Wow, I just saw that my recipe was an EP... thank you so much! I'm thrilled and honored. I read your review and am glad (relieved?) you liked them. I'm particularly partial to the ease of working with such a wet mixture. :)

Stockout December 2, 2010
PS. Congratulations to the finalists and EP's. Would need a year to try all the wonderful recipes on this site, editors picks or not.

Stockout December 2, 2010
Geez, I come home from one trip and my cabbage is an EP, come home from another trip and my latkes are another. Allow me to catch up with the thank you's and if I wasn't on another trip tomorrow I would love to test something. Maybe next year. Thank you all for the wonderful reviews and comments.

I hope you do send in your comments, too. Sorry I didn't see this earlier: I would have been happy to step aside. I have submitted my comments to the editors. Hope you love this as much as I do! It is a great recipe.
