BLAT: The Happy Lunch That Can Be Yours in 15 Minutes

September 25, 2015

Maybe the term BLAT doesn’t roll of the tongue, but that doesn’t make this any sandwich less appetizing.

This lunch can be yours in about 15 minutes: Just grab some good bread, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado, and layer it all up. Pro tip: Only toast the inside of the bread, that way your sandwich is still crispy, but the sharp toast won’t cut your mouth. Sharing with a friend is optional.

Avocados are seasonal here in South Africa and loved by all. In my book EATS:enjoy all the seconds, I offer a BLAT recipe but rolled in a tortilla. The tortilla, if rolled properly, keeps all the ingredients in the sandwich and in your mouth!

Are you hanging out in my kitchen?! This was going to be my lunch yesterday, but my tomatoes aren't quite ripe. Maybe BLAT will grace my plate and palate tomorrow. And I only toast one side of my sandwich bread, not only does it save the mouth but cutting it doesn't push the insides out. Tip - if you do toast both sides of the bread, cut the top piece alone then cut through the rest of the sandwich.
