How to Start Prepping Your Thanksgiving Stuffing Right Now

November 13, 2015

The secret to a not-monotonous stuffing may be hiding in your freezer right now. It may have been there for weeks, if not months.

Leanne Brown shared the brilliant idea in her recent article about how to have a good Thanksgiving on the cheap. But we didn't want anyone to miss it:

This is my mother’s trick and you should all do it. She freezes the leftover ends of bread for stuffing and leftover vegetable bits for broth. Come Thanksgiving, she pulls the bread bag out, tears it up—and isn’t far from stuffing. Not only is it economical since you’re using up scraps, but using different types of bread makes the stuffing super interesting.

So instead of throwing away the nubs and bits from your weekly bread, put them in a freezer-safe plastic bag and chuck them in the freezer. Defrost the hodge podge of bread pieces when you're ready to make stuffing. They can then all hold hands in one dish (it's Thanksgiving, after all). It'll save you from buying another ingredient for the big meal—and you will be crowned the master planner of the day.
