I think the complexity of Ad Hoc at Home was seriously overstated. I just got my copy today and found several recipes with minimal (and easily found) ingredients, basic techniques and no specialized equipment. While there are more complicated dishes, there is plenty of simplicity for the cook who wants to eat well without devoting hours of time in prep.
