Community Picks — Citrus
Any Food52 member is welcome to help us test our Community Pick candidates, so go call dibs on the recipe you'd like to test in the comments section below! We'd love to see some new testers in the mix. Don't forget to email us your notes (about 100 words) to editors@food52.com by next Tuesday at 5pm (EST).
We'll collect your comments, decide the official list of Community Picks and publish your evaluation in the headnote if the recipe is selected as an Community Pick (with credit, of course!). And even if the recipe you test isn't chosen as an Community Pick, please feel free to leave your testing notes in the recipe's comments section. Constructive criticism is always encouraged!

ChefJune, why dont you make the Masala Lemon soda? See below...

I'd definitely volunteer to make Masala soda, except, I love the drink so much, It not going to come across as objective!

I thought the entries to this contest were consistently outstanding (last one too) so I'm excited to be on the list with all the highly deserved picks. I've already made a few over the last week -- all winners!

I just got home and am so bummed they're all gone :-( I love citrus, and am going to make some of these this week anyway and just add my comments to the recipes. Congrats to all!

Seriously. I am going to have to start setting an alarm or something. People here are quick. Like ninja-quick. Sigh. I guess I'll just have more time to spend on chili-making. My husband is overjoyed at this week's theme.

This will be my virgin voyage with kumquats, but if it's still available, I'll test the kumquat shaker pie. That said, any advice on discerning a bad kumquat from a bad one.

Hi cheese1227, I just called the shaker pie half a second before you, but if you'd like to test it, you can take it! Although, I have no good advice at all about discernig good from bad kumquats!

Thanks fiveanspice. But I'll just check in next time. On a different note, are you still in the Boston neighborhood. I am moving to the Portland ME area this summer. I've been lucky enough to have the DC Food52 group not too far down the road. And I am wondering if there is a similiar group up in the Boston area. Yes, I'll still be two hours from Boston, but those are my old stomping grounds so I'd love to make the trek any time, especially if there is the promise of good food and fun.

Gotcha! I wasn't sure if you meant too late for testing, or too late for getting help with choosing kumquats! And, yes, there's a crew of us in Boston! We would love to have you come and join us whenever we get together. And some of my best friends (and mind blowingly good cooks) live in Portland! What a great city!!!! You're going to adore it. Amazing food there too, for a small place!

kumquats are squishy if they're bad or dry and shriveledy.

ARGH! I was late again. Bummer. Well, congratulations to everyone and thanks gingerroot for offering to test my recipe! Hope you enjoy it!

It looks like HLA's shaker kumquat pie is left, is that right? If so I'd love to test it please! I'm always looking for kumquat ideas. Ok, well not technically always, but right now i am!

I just realized I could make a beverage even while traveling, so I'll take the Meyer Lemon and Thyme Caipirinha.

Hi, thanks for volunteering to test out my caipirinha. I hope you enjoy it!

I'll take the "It Takes a Village" Rice Pudding, please. Foraging doesn't get any more local than reaching out your back door to the Meyer lemon tree standing right by it. Thank you. ;o)
over 1 year ago Beautiful, Memorable Food
Hi, thanks for choosing my recipe to test! If you need any Meyer lemons, my neighbor's tree still has plenty :)

I'll try the orange buttermilk sherbet.

Fennel slaw, please
