Raising chickens is in vogue. According to the New York Times, Chicken coops have taken off as part of the urban farming movement. In fact, there is even a City Chicken program for New York chicken enthusiasts who want to meet one another and share information and resources.
The advantage of raising chickens? Organic, free-range eggs with a rich, intense taste that transform even a simple dish of scrambled eggs. However, at this time of year, chickens are often laying more eggs than one family can handle, meaning chicken owners have to get creative.
