Camp for Foodies

If you're a dedicated gastronome looking to re-live your time at summer camp, we may have found the place for you. Last weekend at the International Culinary Center in SoHo, 25 well-known chefs each taught their signature dish to a group of 150 students/campers from around the world. But the course doesn't just focus on recipes -- guests are taught about where their spices come from, how to identify the freshest produce, and, of course, how to properly dip truffles.

At a price tag of $1,395, one chef notes, "If they want to just have my food, they can come to my restaurant and eat." Maybe it isn't for all of us, but for those lucky enough to get a ticket to the next session, almost certain culinary wonder awaits.

I love nothing more than a summer tomato (maybe add some balsamic, basil, and home-made mozz). In my free-time, I cook, read about cooking, farm, read about farming, and eat. Food is a basic necessity, but good food ought to be a fundamental right.
