Eat Like The English
The Brits have a rather unsavory reputation when it comes to food. "I'm going out for some British food," is not a phrase you hear uttered with any frequency in America. But maybe, like most stereotypes, this one is based more in ignorance than truth.
Judging by the slideshow of 10 Must-Eat British Foods, that might just be the case. Showcasing both simple meals (like a bacon sandwich layered between pieces of white bread) and the more complex (you can't go wrong with roasted bone marrow) the list is a fairly complete guide to what to eat when visiting London.
Even if you can't hop the pond for the games, you can recreate some of these British classics at home. Today for lunch, we'll be making entry number five: "A Cheese Toastie." Like you might have guessed from the name, this is pretty much a grilled cheese sandwich—with some very important extras. This particular sammie, purchased from the Kappacasein stall in Borough Market, features oozy, melted Mongomery's cheddar with chopped leeks, onions and garlic, nestled between two slices of bread from Poilane, the world-renowned Parisian bakery. Oh, my.
