Community Picks -- Pub Food

August  3, 2012

It's that time again -- help us pick the contest finalists for Your Best Pub Food! This time, though, we’re rolling out a fancy new upgrade to our testing system.

The game is the mostly same: any Food52 member is welcome to help us test our Community Pick candidates, so go call dibs on the recipe you'd like to test that is included in the list below! We'd love to see some new testers in the mix -- remember, we're accepting up to 3 testers per recipe. And, if the recipe is worthy of a Community Pick, we'll publish the best headnote, so make your comments count! Don't forget to email us your headnote (no more than 100 words) to [email protected] by next Wednesday at 5pm (EST)

Shop the Story

Once you’ve figured out which recipes are calling your name, all you have to do in order to sign up is follow the link below to that recipe’s page, and on the left-hand side, you’ll see a “Test This Recipe” button. Your job is easy: just click the button, and you’ll receive a confirmation email that officially crowns you a Food52 community tester. If for some reason you decide you cannot test, simply press the button again, and your name will be removed from the list.

We'll collect your comments, name the finalists and official Community Picks and publish the best headnote for each Community Pick (with credit, of course!). If the recipe you test isn't chosen as a Community Pick, please feel free to leave your testing notes in the recipe's comments section. Constructive criticism is always encouraged.

Happy Testing!

I have a thing for most foods topped with a fried egg, a strange disdain for overly soupy tomato sauce, and I can never make it home without ripping off the end of a newly-bought baguette. I like spoons very much.

Does the testing window close at some point? I wanted to give some of the others a shot and there is no "test this recipe" button available anymore.

hi, i think comments were due by 5p today? so maybe they remove the testing buttons at that point?

In the Old way, we'd be vying & tripping over each other with one another to test recipes.. It seems that a lot of the recipes are unclaimed...Having said that..I'd love to have tested a recipe If I weren't so sick with a bug..my sense of smell & taste is totally outta commission.

Panfusine - I noticed that too and I was shocked that some of the recipes weren't claimed - they look wonderful! I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that this link is only on the home page (food52.com) rather than in its usual location on the contests page? the CP results of the mayo contest are in that location.

We think they look wonderful too! In all reality, the number of unclaimed recipes isn't that far off from what we've had in the past -- but we're thinking it could have something to do with the hot, August weather...In any event, we always try to step in and test all of the unclaimed ones so that all of our testing bases are covered. As always, though, we welcome your feedback -- after all, you are the ones who use this system the most!

I love this new system. Can't test for this one, but I'm going to make it a priority in the future.

Congrats to all the CP candidates. Thanks for the CP nom...even if no one tests mine, it was an honor to be included! (in the horse world...its akin to making the "short list" of being considered for the Olympic team! You may not get to wear the red coat, but you appreciate the honor of being considered!). Can't wait to try testing again! I've been away too long!

Editors, how long should we wait before signing up to test a second one? I've signed up for one, and can test more than one, if that's okay. Thanks so much. ;o)

That's kind of you to want to give other people a chance, but since we're heading into the weekend, I'd say anyone is welcome to grab a second (or even third!) recipe.

Congrats to all the CP nominees! Yes...I picked one!!

Kukla August 3, 2012
Congratulations to all CP nominees’! Big thanks to the editors for choosing my recipes! Unfortunately I can not test any of the recipes, which look and sounds great; we all are in Chicago for a Birthday party and family reunion and will be back Tuesday evening. Good luck to all!

em-i-lis August 3, 2012
yum, yum! congrats to everyone, and many thanks for the CP nom!

I love the new addition of how many testers have signed up! I can't test this week, but I think the new feature will be very helpful.

aargersi August 3, 2012
What a great line-up! I wish I could test this week but alas - my cooking time is being taken up by a pesky 50th birthday party

next time I can push a button though

meganvt01 August 3, 2012
I don't see the "test this recipe" button - something missing or is it just my computer?

meganvt01 August 3, 2012
Nevermind - I didn't read the directions fully :) I really like that the test button is on the recipe itself!

Kenzi W. August 3, 2012
Isn't it great? Sorry for the confusion at first -- it'll take some getting used to, but we're big fans!
