Kickstarter Love: 314 PIE

August  7, 2012

Each week in Kickstarter Love, Feed52 features a Kickstarter project that focuses on food and the community. Basically, it’s about cool people doing cool things with food. This week, we're talking pie.

This Kickstarter project could not have come at a better time. If anyone should publicly endorse pie, it’s us: we love pie so much, we even eat it in our cakes

Our Cherpumple-Off is a good measure of our love for all shapes and sizes of pies, sweet and savory. (We even ceded victory to a savory pie.) So, then, who are we to turn down a New Zealand meat pie?

With their Kickstarter project, 314 PIE is trying to bring the popular, savory meat pies of New Zealand to the United States. More specifically, they want to bring them to a food truck near you. The five-inch pies, with fillings like steak and onion, make a great hand-held lunch, but 314 PIE will have sweet offerings too. A pie for dessert after pie for lunch? Now that’s our style.

They’ve almost reached their goal, but they need your contributions to finish outfitting their truck and obtaining the necessary permits. They’re serious about showing their thanks, too: if any one of their donation rewards don’t appeal to you, they’re happy to discuss a substitute. Check out their page below to see how you can help them provide pie to the people.

I have a thing for most foods topped with a fried egg, a strange disdain for overly soupy tomato sauce, and I can never make it home without ripping off the end of a newly-bought baguette. I like spoons very much.

a 4:20 pie might help spur 314 pie sales. Just sayin'
