Throw 'em on the Grill

Preparing bivalves may seem like a daunting task, but according to the experts from the Whole Foods Market Cooking blog, it's not too difficult. The Whole Foods Market team shares their tips for preparing, grilling, and plating bivalves.

One crucial step in preparing the shellfish involves thoroughly cleansing and submerging them in salt water to remove sand. Then, once on the grill, the shellfish should steam under a closed grill for 4-8 minutes or until the shells begin to open. By grilling them directly over the heat of the grill, the bivalves get a smoky flavor and don't create a huge mess. And for a preparation method?
