Life on the Farm
Most Americans are familiar with American Gothic, Grant Wood's quintissential and patriotic painting of farmers. In our current food system of factory farms, this seems like a distant past. Although we are constantly bombarded with tragic news about the challenges facing family farmers, we occasionally catch a glimse of hope.
Photographer Max Farago beautifully captures daily life on Cunningham Hill Farm, the 28-acre farm run by Richard Lamb and Anna Castellani, the proprietors of Foragers City Grcocer in New York. The grocery store, with locations in Chelsea and Brooklyn, offers customers farm fresh produce from their farm upstate. Now, with these photos and with a recipe for Foragers Butcher Steak, Foragers shares even more locavore love with the community.
