The best dinner party advice always centers around one tenet: prepare everything possible ahead of time. It's no problem to keep entrees hot in the oven or make a dessert a day or two ahead of time, but what about fresh, homemade whipped cream?

The Chow community is here to help with plenty of home-tested tips: adding gelatin, adding melted marshmallows, or whipping with marscapone cheese are popular techniques. Got any of your own to share?

I was given this tip by a dear friend, who is also a culinary teacher for over 30 years. While whipping the cream add a small package of "white chocolate" instant pudding. Works every time. This amount is when whipping a quart of cream. For a pint of cream, use about a 1/3 of a package. Save the rest for the next time.
