Kickstarter Love: The Goat Dairy

by:
September 25, 2012

Each week in Kickstarter Love, Feed52 will feature a Kickstarter project that focuses on food and the community. Basically, it’s about cool people doing cool things with food. This week, a goat dairy could be a tool for economic and youth development.

The Goat Dairy aims to empower low-income farmers in Grenada, West Indies by training them extensively in animal husbandry. By producing both milk and cheese, farmers will be self-sufficient and work toward preventing food insecurity in their communities.

They've also partnered with a local public school to start a goat farm on campus to educate youth, not only on raising farm animals but also on composting and essential business practices. And what's more, is the education program will also be available to other children in the region.

To help The Goat Dairy achieve its goal, check out their Kickstarter page below. If we could, we'd name a baby goat with a pledge.

My two (current) favorite foods start with the letter D: doughnuts, and dumplings. If a dish has bacon in it, I will most likely eat it. If I could marry honey butter, I would.
