Muffscuits

There's a very clear distinction between baked goods such as scones, biscuits, cupcakes and muffins...right? Before we start picking apart the differences between them all, know that this recipe for Alabama Muffin Biscuits from Leite's Culinaria will turn our definitions upside down.

Prepared and thrown together in the fashion of biscuits, the dough is then placed into a muffin pan at the last minute and baked in the oven. No lard here -- these muffin biscuits only use butter, leading to a crispy outside and a slightly crumbly inside. Once you spread some butter and jam onto these bad boys, the difference between muffins and biscuits will no longer matter.

My two (current) favorite foods start with the letter D: doughnuts, and dumplings. If a dish has bacon in it, I will most likely eat it. If I could marry honey butter, I would.
