are the whole peppercorns taken out before mashing or are they soft enough after having been boiled with the potatoes that you don't crack a tooth?

Amanda is a co-founder of Food52.

They're quite soft so no dental worries! But they do pack a punch so if you don't like a hit of pepper, you can mash the peppercorns as you go, so they break up into bits. Enjoy!
