Eat A Goat, Save A Goat

What's the most popular meat in the world? Hint: it's not chicken.

Despite its scarcity in the United States, goat is the most-eaten meat across the globe. It's inexpensive, it's low in fat, and it could make the goat cheese industry more humane and more sustainable. In order to produce more milk to meet the rising demands for goat cheese, mama goats need to have more babies. However, with little demand for goat meat, farmers often have to kill baby males or sell them to commodities markets.

To give these adorable little guys better lives, Heritage Foods USA has launched the No Goat Left Behind project to encourage American consumers to eat more goat. They have partnered with over 14 family farms and almost 100 restaurants, hoping to show people how delicious pasture-raised goat can be. Apparently, it tastes just like lamb. Watch the video, head to a participating restaurant, and tell all of your friends: goat is the new pumpkin.
