Our 12 Favorite Portlandia Food Moments

February 27, 2014

Portlandia on Food52

You probably haven't heard, but the season four premiere of Portlandia is tonight. You know what that means -- it's time to close your laptops early (get outta there!) and get cooking. No matter which Portlandia clips are near and dear to your heart, we've got the menu for you. Refresh your memory with these clips, pop up some artisanal popcorn, and brew up a big pot of java -- as long as it's locally roasted, of course.

Shop the Story

It's just not popcorn unless it's rustic, gritty, and "sort of like it's from Europe." Don't worry -- it'll be ready before you know it.

Celery's about to go viral. So for dinner tonight hop on the celery train, and remember, you were into it before everybody else was.

Do you have a pasta problem? Embrace it -- you're staying in tonight anyway.

In honor of perhaps the most famous Portlandia food clip, pop a spatchcocked chicken in the oven for dinner -- just don't forget to ask after its name (and papers, if you're really serious) from the local grocer.

Watching the premiere tonight won't be the same without a trip to your local food cart pod. Just don't forget your bag...

Two words: Coffee Land. Play some Japanese techno, brew a pot, and be, like, the only person in town to do it right.

Here are some soups that will actually make people come to your dinner party.

Everything should be pickled. (They also happen to make the perfect show-watching snack. Go ahead, pickle that.)

It's time to let your allergy flag fly. Gluten-frees, lactose intolerants, vegans, unite!

Play bartender for the show: put on suspenders, infuse some stuff, don't forget the love. Or the homemade bitters.

We like our pies double-downed. We're talking Cherpumple: pies inside of cake inside of other cakes, sandwiched between crepes, underneath monkey bread and on top of swamp pie. If you're making this for tonight, you'd better start now.

I have a thing for most foods topped with a fried egg, a strange disdain for overly soupy tomato sauce, and I can never make it home without ripping off the end of a newly-bought baguette. I like spoons very much.

Having spent much of New Year's Day watching the "Portlandia" marathon instead of the Rose Parade I'm completely digging this. I love the "Is it local?" clip because it reminds me of where I live; "andandandand...."

I love this show too! Where else can you find a show on TV supporting the local food movement?! They really got the points across and made it funny. Sometimes I want to know the answers to these questions but I don't have the guts to ask them. Witty ways to follow the local movement! http://thelocalgraze.blogspot.com/
