The LAST book I will buy this year, "SMOKE AND PICKLES: Recipes and Stories From a New Southern Kitchen". Sounds fun.

I'm looking forward to buying Giada's new book out later this year - always gives us fab recipes. Also want to buy Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Cookery Course - not to lear how to cook but rather because the recipes look quick and simple from what I've seen on his tv show.

I love David Tanis' cooking. His much anticipated next book, "One Good Dish", is due to be released on 22 October this year. I bought my copy by pre-order from Amazon in March. I have cooked every recipe from his "A Platter of Figs and Other Things" and "Heart of the Artichoke". His books are elegant, authentic, accessible albeit in my house with a well used and well loved look. When I cook his food I feel he is teaching me in my own private master class. I have learned so much from him. I have few regrets in my life but not eating at Chez Panisse when David was cooking there is top of the list. I love Deborah Madison's "Vegetable Literacy" ... a book for reading, learning and cooking - masterpiece.

Just ordered Pie it Foward by Gesine Bullock-Prado as my goal is to make better pie this summer. Also, got Jeni's Splendid Icecream at Home which I've wanted for awhile.

Since I am a long time vegetarian/vegan, there are few great vegetarian restaurants in my area. So there, I learned to cook and have too many cookbooks. Also one longs to eat the way one did when one was young, carefree, not concerned about fat, cholesterol and the like. Hence my purchase of Betty Goes Vegan. Now I can enjoy my comfort foods and take a culinary walk down memory lane without a guilty conscience.

Just purchased Vegetable Literacy. I knew it was one I had to have, and it's gorgeous. I don't have much of a garden now, but I hope for one in the future. I'll use this book for a long time.

I have been waiting for Flour Too ever since I baked my way through Flour. I love Joanne Chang. Browsing through my collection of cookbooks (over 1,000!) in preparation of a dinner party, I rediscovered my love for Donna Hay. I own Flavours and found it so exciting to retread, I have been buying up Donna Hay's cookbooks that I didn't own. I find them so inspiring. I have preordered her book Seasons and can't wait to get it. I love her use of vegetables, Asian ingredients, and the focus on fresh ingredients. Simple and elegant. Her books are eye candy. I read them like Romance novels! I can truly imagine cooking all of the way through each one.

As already mentioned, Vegetable Literacy by Madison and The A.O.C Cookbook by Goin. I'm still interested in picking up last year's Burma by Duguid. My current classic favorite is Food of Life - Ancient Persian and Modern Iranian Cooking and Ceremonies by Najmieh Batmanglij.

Shameless plug department; my good friend Kim Sunée, author of Trail of Crumbs will have a new book coming probably next year from Andrews McMeel. It's not a cookbook per se although it does include recipes a few of which she asked me to test for her and she kindly sent me some very cool Korean ingredients. It isn't particularly new but I'm really excited to get Short and Sweet by Dan Lepard. He writes a baking column for the Guardian and I've never had one of his recipes fail me. He seems like a delight too! I'm also excited about the new Gluten Free Girl cookbook.

I gave Vegetable Literacy by Deborah Madison to my cousin in the U.K. for her wedding a couple of weeks back. I bought myself a couple of little LEON cookbooks: Brownies, Bars & Muffins, and Soups, Salads&Snacks. Also we've been making a few things from Lucinda Scala Williams new book, Mad Hungry Cravings, and everything's been pretty tasty. What's next? Maybe Franny's.

Pok Pok: Food and Stories from the Streets, Homes, and Roadside Restaurants of Thailand by Andy Ricker and Le Pigeon: Cooking at the Dirty Bird are coming out this fall.
