My favorites are the fish and girl grin, sardines in the box and squash burek? (Istanbul)

Kudos to Sara for capturing a real "food moment".

There are some amazing photos but I love Gerri Hernández, Campania, Italy image

I really like the fish shot by Gerri Hernandez. I just love how it's partially out of focus and so shiney. She managed to pull an interesting shot out of what would otherwise be a very mundane picture.

Gerri Hernandez, Campania, Italy. Beautiful shot. Very simple, strong composition.

All of the finalist photos have been outstanding, but Sara's photo of the woman in Istanbul is my favorite, from this batch and indeed of the whole contest--it could be on the cover of National Geographic. It is a beautiful, compelling image that brings a whole culture to life.

My favorite from this group is the shot of the fish - really nice composition and lovely textural contrast. 2nd favorite is the gorgeous shot of mushrooms - they look so sculptural and velvety.

All are beautiful, but my vote goes to Sara. I love that it captures one of the great culinary traditions of Istanbul. When I travel I always seek out people that are preserving their country's way of life. Thanks, @food 52, for another fun contest. Enjoyed the global photo tour.

Wow, again all cleverly taken photos...I sure would like to enjoy one of whatever the lady in Istanbul is preparing...but those olives in France look tempting as well...

Istanbul, without a doubt.

While I believe that Dorothee's shot is very nice, I am slightly offended because one of the gentleman's picture was taken without him wanting it (or so it seems) and this is slightly insensitive.
Therefore, I believe Sara's is the most interesting in this set.

Looks more like a friendly wave to me, rather than an angry "stop taking a picture of me" motion...

I agree with solmstea - the man is smiling and I take his raised hand to be a wave rather than an indication to stop.

I vote for Sara's photo from Istanbul (I actually have a very similar one from my recent trip there that I didn't think to submit - oh well!) and 2nd place goes to Dorothee's photo from India.

Ahhh...my mistake. In my state of exhaustion I saw the hand coming from the other gentleman.

Mrs. Larkin is a trusted source on Baking.

Cute girl, but the burnt fish has got to go! I like the Istanbul photo the best in this group, followed by the fruit man, and the olive lady.
