On Monday night, we hosted the Piglet Party to celebrate the Tournament of Cookbooks on food52. There was food and drink and even a little controversy during the panel discussion. For those of you who joined us, thank you for coming -- we enjoyed meeting you! And for those of you who couldn't make it, there's always next year! Tuscan Onion Confit

For years now, on the day before Thanksgiving my mother has made what in my family goes by the slightly unappetizing name of "Tuscan Onion Goo." Inspired by a visit to a family-owned gem in Florence called Ristorante del Fagioli, this sour-sweet onion confit was originally served to her as an antipasto. She enjoyed it so much that she asked, in halting but enthusiastic Italian, if the waiter would tell her how it was made. He promptly ushered her into the tiny kitchen, where the sweaty, grinning chef himself showed her how to put together the dish. She took mental notes and then came home and recreated it, with a few small adaptations.

This Friday, we're going to be on the Today Show cooking the finalist recipes for Your Best Thanksgiving Stuffing. It's going to be a big step up in production values from our Flip camera/Helen-can-you-hurry-up-and-edit-that! set-up here on the site. Merrill is going to bring our dull knives and Amanda is planning to wear her fur hat, but we may have to behave in their TV kitchen. We hope you'll check it out!
