I live in the UK and cannot buy buttermilk. What is the best way to make it?

I have a question about the ingredient "1 cup buttermilk, or enough for dough to resemble cottage cheese (if you are not using low-protein flour, it will take more than 1 cup)" on the recipe "Shirley Corriher's Touch-of-Grace Biscuits" from Genius Recipes.

You can use whole milk and add about a teaspoon of white vinegar or lemon juice to sour it.

The ratio for substituting 1 cup buttermilk is 1 cup milk + 1 Tbsp white vinegar OR lemon juice.

You can use any type of milk (whole, reduced, nonfat).
