What is the shelf life of tea leaves?

I just unearthed a couple of tins of expensive tea while cleaning out the attic. They've never been cracked. I'm thinking they were gifts from as long as 10 years ago. Is there any reason I shouldn't brew up a cup to at least try it?

If they are stored in an airtight light tight container in a cool dry place. Roughly a year. If you open your container up and their is no smell you should toss them. I worked w teas for years.

Thanks Mirepoix79. They were stored in a warm, humid place, so I tossed them.
