i'm suddenly desperate for Cope's corn (tribute to Gourmet 11/09) and can't seem to find it in NYC. do you know either where to find it or have a suggestion for a good substitute?

If your up for a drive, Copes is sold in PA at Giant, Weiss, and Wegmans.
To a New Yorker it may seem like the ends of the earth, but you can take I78 or I80 west and be here within 75 miles. Another hour or so west and you'll be in Lancaster county where you can satisfy your Pennsylvania Dutch jones till you explode.

They sell directly on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Copes-Dried-Corn-7-5-Unit/dp/B00168ABLI
I did find it at Fairway once too, in Red Hook.

Official Cope's site seems to be www.farmstandfoods.com (online or phone orders). Fans can purchase several versions of Cope's toasted/dried corn "and other stuff." Or online from zingermans.com (Ann Arbor MI).
