added 7 months agoThis is a delicious cake: http://www.food52.com/recipes... You'd have to make a few modifications (and probably double the recipe) to get 3 9" cakes, but it would be worth it!

Sad to say, I haven't yet used any of the great recipes for chocolate cake that are right here at Food52. I use a Cooks Illustrated recipe for chocolate layer cake that they published back in late 2005. Holler at me if you want to give it a try and don't have access to it.
Also, Ina Gartin has a wonderful mocha chocolate icebox cake, but that needs to be refrigerated overnight,
Ruth Reichl's Last Minute Chocolate Cake is great and super easy! http://projects.washingtonpost...
How are you frosting it?
Thanks to all! After much research I actually decided on the famous Double Chocolate Layer Cake from an old Gourmet on Epicurious. Cakes look great, fingers crossed they'll taste great too! I'm doing blackberry buttercream filling and vanilla bean buttercream frosting
Sounds delicious!
