A question about a recipe: Ima's Challah

I have a question about step 2 on the recipe "Ima's Challah" from Rivka. It says:

"While yeast is proofing, mix flour, salt, 1/4 cup of sugar and cardamom, if using, in a large bowl (or in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.) Stir to incorporate or blend on low speed." How sweet is the challah? I tend to like a homemade challah with a slightly sweet edge.

It's not a very sweet one, so you might want to increase the sugar or honey just a little if you prefer it that way.
