Why are Meyer lemons different?

Meyers are a hybrid, and some might say not a true lemon. Who cares? I believe they are hybridized with tangerine. I love that awesome sweet flavor.

Meyer lemons have a sort of bergamot flavour in the skin, and more of a sugar content than the Eureka lemon. Sweeter, smaller, with a softer skin.
