A question about a recipe: pumpkin cheesecake

It says you need to line the springform pan with aluminum foil before putting the crust mixture into it? Is that absolutely necessary? Of course I'm out of aluminum foil and in the midst of baking. Ah!

The recipe says nothing about a water bath. So, I think I'm ok. Thank you for the quick and helpful response!

Usually the aluminum foil is to line the outside of the springform pan when baking the cheesecake in a water bath. The foil protects the pan from water seeping in. If you aren't baking it in a water bath than you can do without the foil
