A question about a recipe: White Bean Soup

Food52_12-04-12-0313

I have a question about the recipe "White Bean Soup" from Merrill Stubbs. I already soaked my beans overnight before I found this recipe. Can I just skip the first step and start at step 2?

I think so - what Merrill is doing is using the quick soak method but the end result should be the same!
