Garlic and parsley are classic and delicious. I sometimes like tarragon with shrimp, but don't use too much.

I love prawn/shrimp with dil, plus a little cracked white pepper to sharpen it up.

Garlic and parsley are very safe with sautéed or steamed prawns. Lemon and lime are equally good brighteners regardless of how you cook the prawns. The traditional steaming blends can easily be made up from your pantry. Tie these up in cheesecloth, drop in simmering water, and steam away . Steam bath or shrimp boil mix- a TBSP of each-coriander seeds, celery seeds, black peppercorns, red pepper flakes, mustard seeds, kosher salt, bay leaves.Discard after you remove the prawns from the heat. They only take 3 minutes or so if your steam is hot.Remove from heat once they turn bright pink, the residual heat will continue to cook the prawns/shrimp. The dipping sauces make the dish to me. A chipotle mayonnaise is also great with hot steamed/boiled shrimp.
