How long after I get a cake out of a pan can I put some another cake batter in the pan?  Do I have to let the pan get cold?

Yes let it cool...stick it in the fridge?

Yes, I'd let it cool down first.  You have to butter and flour the pan anyway, and it's just easier.  They cool down pretty quickly if you use aluminum pans.  Don't wash the pans hot, you might warp the bottom.
