I would skip the mash and gravy and serve rice..

If they were hosting you, they would serve you their favorite local family dishes. I think you should do the same. Whatever is local to your area.

So, I decided to make fried chicken using skin on chicken breasts and chicken legs, since I will slice up the crispy chicken breasts... I will provide chopsticks. I plan to use 5 spice to season the chicken. Fresh carrots from the farmers market will be roasted, and some long grean beans also a good find at the farmers market, will be sauteed. I'll make mashed potatoes and some gravy- and we'll see! Fresh fruit for dessert-- the last time I entertained the young man he would not eat my home made apple crisp so I'll just keep it simple.

That sounds delicious. I like the Asian twist to the chicken. He wouldn't even try the crisp?
