Perhaps this is the cookbook referenced here? It is by Grace Young and is terrific:

Thanks to you all for useful, functional gift ideas--also on the lookout for the metal chopsticks.

I bought some long, metal chopsticks used for cooking. I love using them. Makes me feel authentic. Lol

Great idea, Susan. We had a Japanese nanny who used chopsticks whenever she cooked, regardless of what it was (in the wok or not, stir fried or not), instead of tongs, spoons and spatulas. I really need to run some down, and get better at using them. I didn't know you could get long metal ones. (She had several pairs of long bamboo ones, which were a better choice in my large non-stick skillet.)

AJ, I found them at H-Mart if you have one. I was visiting my Japanese friend in San Francisco and saw him use them while cooking. I loved the idea. I may get some bamboo ones too so that I can use them with my nonstick skillets. It takes some getting used to, but it's very cool. I love turning scallops with them.

I have long bamboo ones--quite attractive as well as useful. I got mine in Japan, but I bet they're available in the States. A good addition to the gift.

We don't have H-Mart here, but I'm sure I can find them if not at Koreana Plaza, then at one of the many good housewares stores in Oakland's Chinatown. ;o)

Are you also giving the wok itself? If so, I would recommend giving one with a lid. This is the wok/lid combo I have, which I like quite a lot: http://www.fantes.com/helen-chen-carbon-steel-flat-bottom-wok-14-in

Grace Chen has written very in-depth cookbooks on cooking with a wok, including instructions for seasoning and caring for it. I don't have either of them myself, but I've heard very good things.

Sesame oil, dark soy sauce, Chinese rice wine, a spider (basket strainer on long bamboo handle), a long handled wok spatula, a bamboo steamer basket, and your favorite recipes for the wok! ;o)

sounds good. I would add to your list a cover for the steamer basket (if one doesn't come with the basket), one thick Chinese sauce like hoisin, a small whisk for mixing cornstarch in water or broth.

I would also include spices like whole star anise, szechuan peppercorns, and Chinese five spice powder
