Has anyone made Ruth Reichl's Swiss pumpkin? I'm looking for a knockout entree for my friend's birthday dinner.

If you've made it, I'd love to hear what you thought about it. If you have ideas for a different pumpkin-y main dish I'd love to hear about that too. Thanks!

Thank you all so much for the information and beautiful recipes! I'm gonna go for it! Ali, I'm so excited to hear what you guys have cooked up! But my party is on Friday and, alas, I have to shop and prep today :( next time!

On Friday, we're publishing a squash main that'll really knock your friend's socks off. Here's a hint: https://food52.com/blog/14624-2015-is-the-year-of-the-vegducken

Hi, here is my stuffed/baked spicy version pumpkin. Was enjoyed by all, beautiful on the table. Good luck with your creation. :)

I've never followed Ruth Reichl's recipe, but I've made this dish many times, sometimes with sage, sometimes not. It's incredibly simple to make, tastes great and, as you say, is a knockout on the table. (You won't need a centerpieceā€¦.the pumpkin will be burnished, golden and beautiful.)

Unless you're serving vegetarians, I'd also serve some porky thing with this. Marcella's pork with red wine vinegar, bay and pepper would be perfect.http://www.whatscookinchicago.com/2011/07/pork-with-vinegar-bay-leaves.html

Dorie Greenspan recipe...as she described it, "hollowed-out pumpkin stuffed with bread, cheese, garlic, and cream..."
