A question about a recipe: Kicked-up Egg Cream

I have a question about the recipe "Kicked-up Egg Cream" from wssmom.
Ok, I also miss the fried clams from Howard Johnsons.
I'm from North East Texas, but I have recent ancestors from Long Island, NY. Why is this an Egg Cream when there are NO eggs in the recipe?
Of course, any recipe that is COLD is always welcomed down here.

An egg cream never has eggs or cream.

It's a soda fountain drink made with chocolate syrup, milk, and soda water.

It is one of the great mysteries of life! No one knows why it's called an egg cream.
