added almost 2 years agoWas also going to suggest the Grown Up Birthday Cake. But then I might skip the brownies. Also this cake is good with summer fruits and would work well with the peach ice cream: http://www.food52.com/blog...
Oh you want layers, how about a delicious "Whipped Creme Caramel Cake" From Southern Living Magazine December 2008 Issue? It's incredibly delicious and a bit challenging, but one your guests wont forget. I have recipe if you cannot find. cakillgore@sbcglobal.net
Coconut cake or lemon cake. I'd recommend the one from Planter's Inn/Peninsula Grill in Charleston. They do not list their recipe anywhere online but surely you could find something similar. Or a strawberry cake with a little lemon zest??
Thanks for all the great suggestions. I will definitely be trying some of them. For the party I went with a "lemon party cake"--white cake, lemon filling and whipped cream frosting. It was yummy and balanced out the other offerings. I appreciate all who share their thoughts with food pickle.
