Urgent! A question about a recipe: Short Ribs with Beer and Buckwheat Honey

I have a question about the recipe "Short Ribs with Beer and Buckwheat Honey" from merrill.
Thinking about trying this with a crockpot, putting everything in the pot when the original recipe says to put it in the oven. I was thinking 6-8 hours on low. Bad idea?
