I've noticed a lot of beef recipes that ask for dark beer. Any recommendations?

Particularly for marinating (like in a Korean style beef) or braising beef.

Hmm, well I wouldn't pick one that's too sweet ... that being said what I would really do is tell the beer guy at the store what I am up to and ask for advice with their particular selection.

Guiness is good, especially for a beef dish like carbonade.

I think Guiness is great, too, and I also like Anchor Steam.
