Mark Barany, Kuma's roastmaster, developed a taste for African coffee when his missionary parents moved him to a Kenyan boarding school. Years later, living in Seattle, he found a way to bring that coffee to the states, using top quality roasting equipment. He maintains personal relationships with each of his farmers, and this attention to detail at the most fundamental level shines in the final product.
