Guiltless BBQ Beans

Author Notes: I don't add any salt to this recipe because I find the bacon and the sherry wine provide adequate salt flavor for my taste.LeslieAnn

Serves 6

  • 1 tablespoon Canola Oil
  • 1 Vidalia Onion Diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 2 tablespoons Sherry Cooking Wine
  • 2 pieces Bacon (turkey bacon ok)
  • 1 Carrot Diced
  • 1/4 cup White Vinegar
  • 1/3 cup Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 cup ketchip
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups little red beans (canned or already cooked)
