Author Notes: This cake is inspired by Maurice Sendak; pureed raspberries turn the batter into one of the vibrant but muted hues from his illustrations and the turbinado sugar glaze gives it a sort of whimsical sparkle.

For the cake
- 8 teaspoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 6 ounces fresh raspberries, pureed
- zest of one orange
- 3 tablespoons fresh squeezed orange juice
- 1/4 cup turbinado sugar
