Chocolate Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

my step son had some chocolate mint growing in his back yard and loves chocolate mint ice cream. We put our heads together and came up with this. —jane mcmillan

What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate mint leaves
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 2 shakes or so of green food coloring
Directions
  1. In a medium bowl use a mixer to combine the sugar add milk. Continue to beat on low until the sugar is disolved.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream, salt, and vanilla.
  3. Cover and chill overnight.
  4. Next day in the food processor pulse the mint leaves until finely chopped, add vodka, cover and let sit for at least 1 hour.
  5. Strain the mint vodka mixture thru a coffee filterinto a bowl.
  6. Put ice cream mixture in an ice cream machine and turn on.
  7. Add the vodka mixture to cream mixture, last 5 minutes add the food color and the chocolate chips

OOps you are right, make that 3/4 cup sugar, 1 cup whole milk. wow was blonder than usual, thanks Tom.

Jane - I see there are two "sugar" ingredients in this recipe. Is this right? Or is one suppose to be milk?
