  • Makes 1 jar
What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 1 bunch cherries
  • Grappa
  • Glass jar with lid
Directions
  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the cherries. Snip the stems off the cherries, but leave a little of the stem in tact -- it acts like a "little umbilical cord" drinking up the grappa. Place cherries into glass jars and cover with grappa. Seal and store in a cool dark place for at least 6 months.

I've been trying to figure out what to do with my Grappa that I bought in Italy and don't really like. I've tried cherries in Vodka and that was delicious, but it never occurred to me to use Grappa. Thank you for a great idea!

Yes, vodka works too. I had a dinner party once and my a
aunts asked for some of the cherries in vodka I had marinating. The cherries were great and my Aunts were giggling the night away! These are wonderful!

OMgosh you must use sweet cherries - otherwise much too tart - of course you could add sugar. The Dark Sweets are the type used here in these photos.

I can't wait to try this! Can it work with tart cherries as well as sweet? And what about with pitted cherries? After an over zealous cherry picking expedition, I have several pounds of pitted tart cherries in my freezer, and I'd love to try them in this recipe!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea! I come from a big, Italian family, and one of my uncles says drinking too much grappa will "make you take back things you never stole." Do you think this technique would work just as well with vodka?
