Author Notes: This cocktail may just be my answer to a classic Manhattan--in more ways than one. I invented it to celebrate our move from the city to our cottage upstate in Sullivan County. It is a simple combination of only three ingredients but they add up to a wonderful balance of sweet, tart and smoky.gluttonforlife

Serves 1

  • 2 ounces bourbon, I like Tuthilltown's Baby Bourbon
  • 1 ounce maple syrup, grade B preferred
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  1. Combine ingredients in a shaker over ice and shake vigorously. Pour into rocks glass. Enjoy!

Me too! That's what I love most about Food52, I often have most things on hand. Anyway, this is one delicious drink. We may rename it the "Sandy" as we await the storm. Hunker down all!
