Author Notes: I LOVE fresh figs, but they are only available for a short time, so while they are around, you should definitely give this dish a try.

I have the most prolific fig trees on the planet! I have made this lots of times...however, I usually cut the fig in half; otherwise, it is too big of a mouthful of molten cheese.

Sounds simple and lovely. Often figs are stuffed with cheeses that are too strong...mozzarella is a good idea. How about using berry flavored vinegar?

Sally- What a good idea. Your suggestion made me think about some other options too like other fruit/citris vinegar or even champaign vinegar. Thanks for the idea--always nice to have new perspectives.
